Made by Canada for Canada

Mission-ready combat apparel engineered for extreme cold, wet, and rugged terrain.

Why Northern Shield

Established technical apparel program focused on mission outcomes. Systems-level patterning, materials science, and operator feedback — engineered for Canadian terrain.

Low-noise NyCo ripstop with durable weave and soft hand for stealth movement.

Knees, seat, and elbows mapped for flex under load — bartacks where it counts.

Color routes compatible with NIR objectives; validate with lab reflectance when required.

Developed from multi-year research, field data, and combat-proven patterns; validated through structured wear trials.

Alpha Gen Uniform System

The Alpha Gen uniform is engineered from globally battle-proven cuts and built using NATO-grade NyCo fabrics (220–240 gsm), stretch mobility panels, FR-capable materials, NIR compliance, and C0 DWR finishes.

Premium NATO-grade NyCo (220–240 gsm)

Flame-resistant capability

Near-infrared (NIR) compliant

C0 DWR weather resistance

Stretch articulation panels

Reinforced stress zones

Precision colour matching for Canadian terrain environments

Materials & Construction

  • Primary: 50/50 NyCo ripstop ~220–240 gsm;
    quiet hand; high tensile/tear targets
  • Optional path: inherent FR blend ~200–230 gsm (on request; specs disclosed upon lab validation)
  • DWR: C0 preferred; water-shed with breathability
  • Colorways: Ranger Green, Coyote, Wolf Grey,
    Black (NIR-conscious routes available)
  • Stitch program: bar-tacks at stress points;
    double-needle outseams; reinforced pocket bags
  • Process control: calibrated stitch density, thread spec, and needle program per garment zone

Spec Targets

  • Shrinkage: < 2% after 1 wash
  • Colorfastness: wash/crock/light per
    accepted norms
  • Seam strength & tear: per garment zone;
    validated in pilot run
  • Abrasion: high-wear panels targeted
    for 20k+ cycle durability (planning target)
  • NIR: verify via lab reflectance if procurement
    requires.
  • Labeling: bilingual fiber content, dealer
    identity, COO; care instructions

Research & Testing

  • Material trials: NyCo and optional FR blends screened for tensile, tear, abrasion, pilling, shrinkage, and colorfastness.
  • NIR alignment: Dyes/routes selected to support NIR objectives when required; verify via reflectance plots at approval.
  • Prototype loops: PPS > 50–100 set pilot → corrective actions (CAPA) > bulk release gates.
  • Zone engineering: Knees/seat/elbows mapped for load; bartacks and stitch density tuned per operation.
  • QC regime: Inline checks, measurement audits, and AQL 2.5/4.0 at final inspection.
  • Environmental chambers: cold-soak (−20 °C), wet-out & dry-time checks; fabric hand after exposure.
  • Noise signature: rustle dB vs baseline during movement; hook-and-loop cycle endurance.
  • Seam fatigue: cyclical load at knees/seat; bartack pull-out forces (N) recorded.
  • Washdown durability: 10-wash dimensional stability and colorfastness tracking.
  • Thermal management: breathability & layering compatibility assessments.
  • Operator feedback capture: structured forms and after-action notes inform each revision.

Evaluation Sets — Police / Military

We invite qualified military and police operators to run evaluation sets and provide structured feedback. Our confidence in the kit is high — prove it in your environment.

  • Comfort & mobility goal: ≥ 4/5 average
  • Failures ≤ 1/10 sets; shrinkage ≤ 2% after 5 washes
  • Packaging & care sheets mirror production

Size & Fit

Athletic, equipment-aware fits. Use our chart or contact us for department sizing days.

  • Tops: S–2XL (regular fit, layering room for baselayers)
  • Pants: waists 30–40, short/regular/long inseams
  • Custom runs for departments: by arrangement

Care and Handling

Proper maintenance ensures the specialized fabric remains breathable and weather-resistant in the most demanding environments.

Machine wash cold;
mild detergent

No fabric softener
(preserves DWR)

Hang dry preferred;
low tumble as needed
